16. The Journey

Bethlehem was just a small town, about  five miles south of the city of Jerusalem.  It was King David’s birthplace.  Mary and Joseph lived about 80 miles north in Nazareth in Galilee.

An Israeli Ruler is forecasted to come from Bethlehem:

Micah 5: 2 “ But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,  Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel,  Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”

This prophecy was fulfilled, when Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem, because of a government ruling, and Jesus was born there.

Luke 2:1 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.

It is interesting the events that take place, that God uses to get us into postion for our miracle to come forth.  The journey to get in line with God’s plan may seem challenging at times, but He will be with us all along the Way.  Let’s relax and enjoy the journey!
